Learning outcomes

Students will be able to ...

  • describe central aspects of international HRM,

  • understand how cultural, institutional, and organizational factors shape HRM practices,

  • critically reflect on IHRM practices in organizations and think of possibilities for improvement,
  • understand how to develop successful IHRM practices,

  • show enhanced critical thinking, teamwork, and presentation skills.
Attendance requirements

To enhance learning students are expected to participate actively in class. Therefore, attendance of at least 70% of classes is required to pass the course. In case of illness/injury preventing a student from taking the final exam, a medical certificate is required as documentary evidence. Attendance of the first session is mandatory.

Teaching/learning method(s)

The course is taught using a combination of lectures, case studies and class discussions. Case assignments in class introduce students to specific issues of international human resource management. Students are expected to stay current in their preparation before class, to regularly attend class and to participate in class discussions.

Assessment

Grading will be based on  

  • Quizzes & in-class assignments 60%
  • Final exam 40%
